SAFETY & HEALTH OFFICER

Are you passionate about creating a safe and healthy work environment? Do youhave a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to safety management? In therole of Safety & Health Officer, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the well-beingof our employees and maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations.


THE ROLE:
Create and promote a safe and hazard-free work environment by designing and implementing policies and procedures in accordance with best practices and the Occupational Safety and Health legislation.

Main Duties

Policies & Procedures: Collaborate proactively with managers to ensure compliance with established safe work practices and the health and safety legislation.

Understand and Apply Legislation: Keep up to date with changes in health and safety legislation and ensure compliance

Conduct Health and Safety Inspections: Regularly inspect the workplace and dormitories to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards

Risk Assessment: Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential threats and hazards, and devise strategies to mitigate such risks

Training and Education: Provide orientation, training and education to employees regarding safety standards and procedures

Liaise with Regulatory Bodies: Maintain communication with regulatory bodiesto ensure compliance with health and safety regulations

Promote Safety Culture: Drive the adoption of a safety culture within the organization, making safety a fundamental aspect of the company’s ethos

Accident Reporting: Investigate and keep proper records of any occupational accident and other dangerous occurrences and submit comprehensive reports to the Management.

Qualifications

  • Higher School Certificate

  • A Degree in Occupational Safety and Health from a recognised institution

  • Fully conversant with the OSHA 2005 and other relevant Laws and Regulations

  • At least 5 years of experience in a similar position. Experience in a Logistics &Warehousing environment will constitute an advantage.

  • Sound knowledge of Labour Legislation and Regulations and a Trainer Qualifications coupled with Training experience will be a definite plus

  • Excellent Communication & Leadership Skills

  • Problem solver with proven ability to be creative and bring innovative ideas

  • Assertiveness, with the capacity to challenge the status quo and bring about a change in attitude, conduct, work ethics, and procedures conducive to safety and security.
